Cherokee Valley Course and Club
About
Surrounded by rolling hills, Cherokee Valley Golf Club has a beautiful setting and temperate climate that draws visitors from all over the state. It feels peacefully tucked away but the course is only minutes from downtown Greenville's attractions. The challenging layout features eleven lakes and more than 50 strategically placed bunkers. The dramatic elevation changes provide even more challenges. It is seemingly a very intimidating golf course but the wide fairways and clean rough make it much more forgiving than it looks. The fifth hole is the golf course's signature. There is a beautiful cascading waterfall on this hole as well as a stunning view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Cherokee Valley G.C. is known almost as much for its practice facility as it is for the golf course. The popular, state-of-the-art facility includes a triple-tiered driving range, two putting greens, and a chipping green.

Nice course, challenging for first-timers
This was my first time playing here and I got paired up with 3 others guys. I enjoyed playing this course. If you are not a decent golfer, you will struggle here. A lot of the greens are small and dome shaped making it difficult to stick an approach shot. Not to mention, the greens were really fast and often hard to read. All in all, a good course and I will be back!
Cherokee Valley
This is a course that thinks they are hosting The U.S. Open. The fairways were playable, but that's it. The first cut rough was deep and we lost a lot of balls that should have been in plain view, then the secondary rough or you may as well call it unkept natural areas were ridiculous. We hit shots all day that should have been either findable or should have rolled down steep hills onto the fairway (and this is a VERY hilly course) but, forget about those balls unless you have nobody behind you. They don't mow anything but the fairways. And don't forget the blind tee shots. Never played a course with that many tees where it was blind ans you really had to study where to hit and hope to find your shot.
This course penalized EVERY shot not in the fairway. The greens, well the pros might like them, they are fast, a short tap might roll 10-20ft past the hole.
For a public daily play course it was not a fair test of golf. Checked off my list of played, but won't play again. Did not enjoy our outing, when usually we like to leave with a smile after having fun. No Smiles.
Father and son day
The course conditions are superb. One problem is that the speed of greens are so fast and the pin positions brutal. You could play a US Open here and the players would be happy!
Highly Reccomend
The Greens are super fast and they also hold well.
Great views. The course is fair. Yardage is well marked.
Afternoon out
Enjoyed the afternoon. 2nd time this summer that I had the chance to play here.
Great outing
Course in great shape, fast greens. Snack bar was closed, played hungry. Ready to play it again, bring own snacks next time. Beautiful Scenery, would love to build a home on the course.
Great Greens
The greens were in very good shape. Made you think about think where you wanted to land the ball.
Front nine is tricky for newbies.
Overall not to long.
I would play from the back tees if you are a low handicapper.
Cherokee Valley
Awesome course, in really good shape. Greens were extremely fast. Pace of play was way to slow. I was part of a two some and it took 3 hours for only 9 holes. There was a four some in front of us that would not let us play through. It ended up taking almost 6 hours to play 18. That was the only down side. The course was in great shape and the staff were friendly.

well maintained. several blind shots. beautiful mountain views. needs to be played from blue tees to be appreciated, otherwise too short.
Go Play!
Best greens in the upstate! Fairways are excellent. You need to play this one!
Hi CRM, thanks for the plug! We're happy you enjoyed your round at Cherokee Valley and hope we can host you again. Thanks!
Awesome experience every time
If you enjoy a challenge with great scenery this is the best place to play. You get to hit almost every stick in your bag!
Fish & Hunt- happy to read you like the challenge here. Hope you didn't have to hunt too much for golf balls. Our best to you and thanks for playing the course.
great challenge
Overall great course. Large greens and beautiful views. Fairways were a little hard ground but still playable.
Great Course
My wife and I played this course on Thursday July 17 2014. We were totally impress with the course condition and the large greens that were in great condition and putted true. We also love the way they design the concrete cart paths, especially if it was a hilly hole. You never felt that you were going down a steep incline. The views were amazing. We are thinking about joining since they have the best membership I have seen in the upstate. Everything included for one price including cart, range balls, swimming pool & fitness center.
Interesting course
Very interesting layout. Fast, firm greens. Tight lies in the fairway. A good deal of local knowledge helpful. A pleasant place to play; worth your time and money.
very challenging lay out
A lot of the holes you have to ride out to the fairway to check it out before you hit, especially if it is your first time playing there. Super course !!!
Always a good bet
We live in Hendersonville, NC and Cherokee Valley is right down the street. Very easy to get to and the course is always in good shape. i enjoy playing this course and is a very good value.
Beautiful course, and great challenge !
This was the first time playing this course, and what a treat it was. The scenery is gorgeous, and the holes are laid out very well. Awesome drop off shots, and hitting over the big fountain in the lake was cool. I would recommend this course to anyone ! I will be playing here again and again, staff was super friendly, and greens were great. I had to drive 40 mintues to play here and it was worth every second, and at $35 a round, you can't beat it! Make sure you take a cart, walking would be pretty tough !
Interesting layout with unique holes
Great course for the money. Greens are in great shape and are not overly difficult. A few holes offer mountain views and each one is different from the last. Not the hardest course but definitely not easy. Doesn't require too many shot shapes. Usually a straight shot is your best play.
1st time, will be back!
Great course for the price, was a little wet, bunkers especially had some water retention, but fairways and greens were beautiful. Fun round!
Great course for the price!
This was my first time playing this course upon a recommendation from a friend that has played it several times. I have one word to describe it "hilly"!!! It was a fun but rather challenging course with great views of the beautiful blue ridge mountains.
Thanks for the review rlyon0680. I see it was your first time playing Cherokee Valley, and we're all very happy you enjoyed your round. Hope to see you again.
