Cherokee Valley Course and Club
About
Surrounded by rolling hills, Cherokee Valley Golf Club has a beautiful setting and temperate climate that draws visitors from all over the state. It feels peacefully tucked away but the course is only minutes from downtown Greenville's attractions. The challenging layout features eleven lakes and more than 50 strategically placed bunkers. The dramatic elevation changes provide even more challenges. It is seemingly a very intimidating golf course but the wide fairways and clean rough make it much more forgiving than it looks. The fifth hole is the golf course's signature. There is a beautiful cascading waterfall on this hole as well as a stunning view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Cherokee Valley G.C. is known almost as much for its practice facility as it is for the golf course. The popular, state-of-the-art facility includes a triple-tiered driving range, two putting greens, and a chipping green.

Saturday Well Spent
Although the pace of play was delayed due to frost, it was still a fun and challenging course to play on.
Greens are the biggest challenge
Cherokee Valley is a beautiful course. All the holes are framed in majestic pine trees, but fairways are wide enough, even for the avg.weekly player. The greens are all pretty big, but each one has it's own challenges. Almost all have significant slopes that will escort low shots right off the green. These greens are fast, all the time.Downhill putts require just a touch, to go 20 ft. Local knowledge is a must, to score well here, but I loved the challenge....I'll be back.
Glad you enjoyed the challenge of the course and we hope to see you back soon
Good value but Staff was TERRIBLE
Not a good experience. From the moment we arrived it was terrible. No cart guy, pro shop guys not friendly at all. 5.5 hours to play 18 holes. At turn tried to get a sandwich took 25 minutes for 3 of us to get sandwich an drink. Waitress was rude. Never will return.
Our apologies for the experience you had during your round. Please email me directly for a makeup promo code at loriteetimes@gmail.com
Great day on a beautiful course
My dad, my 2 sons, and I had a great time at Cherokee Valley Golf Club. We'll definitely be back.
Glad to hear your family had a great time during your round. Cant wait for you to come back!
worth a regular visit
Unique course with FAST, multiteared greens. Few of the bunkers need attention but we're supposed to stay out anyway. Dramatic elevation changes make club selection a fun process. Will definitely play regularly.
Great to hear you trully had fun during your round and even better that you will be back regularly!
Great time.
Very challenging greens. Fast and sloping. Stay away from the woods in the fall, leaves.
Good condition all around.
Thanks for the review. Great tips and hope to see you back soon!
Great Course
Went on a Sunday, had amazing views of the mountains, course was in great condition.
Glad you enjoyed the views and condition of the course!
Good course at discounted rate.
Greens and fairways were in excellent condition when we played..just a little wet in spots. A lot of the bunkers were wet or muddy..luckily didn't spend much time there. Took about 4.5 hours with just a little waiting. This was at 10 on a Sunday. Plan to play again soon.
Challenging course
Enjoyed this course. The course is in great shape, greens roll true and fast. There are many blind shots, so do due diligence if you're playing the course for the first time. This is a course where you want your misses to be in the right spots or you will have your work cut out for you on most holes. Nice practice facilities and a friendly staff. Bottom line, if you're looking for a course that Challenges your game, this is a great course.
Average course, nothing special, poor staff
We were driving from a couple of hours away so my review will be slanted slightly based on that. The course, wasnt bad, but nothing special, not worth making a special trip for. The front nine had alot of gimmicky holes as some mountain courses will have. Not enough room to really put some holes, so they squeeze them in with blind shots and such. Some of the greens were rediculous. Im not talking about undulation, but just greens with complete outright hills or banks in them. They were in good shape, just not sure what purpose those greens/designs served. The back nine was more of a regular golf course, and yes had a couple nice holes with really nice views of the mountains. However my biggest complaint would be the staff. I play alot of golf in a lot of places and so you see a little of everything, but the two working in the proshop were about as cold and unfriendly, unwelcoming as anywhere ive played. If youre in the area and get a good deal on golfnow, and just havent played it, go for it. But i wouldnt pay the regular price or make a special trip for it. The course conditions were ok, no real complaints about fairways, or greens or bunkers or such. Just had a lot of silly holes, and very unfriendly staff.
I loved the greens
Just do something with I think #4 with the blind small layup
Challenging Course With Nice Views
Great course to play with many challenging holes. Beautiful views and many blind approaches.
Gorgeous Course
I really like playing Cherokee as the course is just challenging enough, and full of great views.
Excellent!
I have played this course numerous times, and it's always in superb shape. This is one of the best public courses in the upstate for sure.
Really Fun Course To Play
For the money - this is the best public course (worth playing) in the Greenville area. I typically pay $30-36 for 18 using GolfNow.
It has some really interesting shorter holes that make it a lot of fun to play. At least 3 holes are driveable for someone that can carry it 260-320 (depending on tees). And yes there are a few what the heck do I hit and where do I hit this tee ball.
There is one Par 3 on the backside that is a Kodak moment. Beautiful view!!!! but I wish the tee boxes were a little better maintained on that hole.
Overall condition is good (or well above average for $36). Snack shack is good at the turn, big boy hot dogs. Homeowner on 10 probably needs to understand he lives on a golf course at 220-260 from the tee. Get to know him my friends :)
My advice for the course - please keep high handicappers away and hacks aways. And for people that don't play golf this place will cost you at least 36 balls.
Good fun course worth playing ..... note again to hackers - this is not the place to loose 36 balls per round!
beautiful views, challenging course!
Beautiful view and a very challenging course. Not the friendliest course I have every played. We told the man in the golf shop we were new to the course and he said no worries we were paired with someone who played regularly, however they had never played the course either and it was hard to follow where the holes went. Very narrow fairways, difficult greens but fun. Worth the trip out there, no cart service and no beer on Sundays.
Beautiful Course
The beauty of the course was amazing! The greens and fairways were in good shape. The staff was great! It was crowded the day we played but play the overall speed was good...played in about 4 hours. We got a great Golf Now price and played for $20.14 a piece.
Fun & Friendly
This is always a fun course to play that is not overly difficult, except the greens can be tricky, fast downhill and hard to read. I played as a single but was paired up with two nice gentlemen that were friendly and great to play with. If you are ever in the Upstate of SC, this should be one of the courses that you play.
FrankP
Had not played the course in 2-3 years. Course was better condition and was a very enjoyable round. Greens were in great shape & fast. Looking forward to returning soon.
Glad you had a fun and challenging time during your round.
