Great adventure
Based on the other courses in the area this course provided a good change of layout and challenge. The long and accurate hitters will have a great day. The dangerous sections of the course are moderate but definitely add to the round. No cart beverage personnel on the day we played so that was a negative on a nice Friday afternoon. Long hitters will be heavily rewarded on this course.
very well maintained
we only played 9 holes due to rain but it was a fair test of golf
nice hole design
use the right tee's for your handicap and you will enjoy this track
Close-quarters golf with lots of scenery
I played Crowfield the morning after an April rainstorm, so the course was thoroughly soaked but still playable. There was standing water on every fairway and in most of the bunkers. However, the greens were surprisingly firm considering the amount of water they had taken. Most of the greens are elevated, protected by bunkers, some are very small, and they all seem to slope inward and towards the front edge. The design of the course is more technical than I was expecting. The holes are all very narrow with homes just feet away from the fairways & greens. Every par 4 or 5 is a dogleg-something. If you're a little bit wild off the tee (like I am), leave the driver in the bag, because you'll be paying for somebody's broken window if you're not careful.
Visually, the course has a lot of rustic charm and wildlife. The ruins of the old Crowfield Plantation house stand in the middle of the course and there are huge old oak trees draped in Spanish Moss everywhere. The many lakes & ponds attract a wide variety of animals. In my round I saw Eastern Bluebirds, Cardinals, Blue Jays, Great Blue Herons, White Ibis, Great Egrets, Hawks, Vultures, snakes, alligators, turtles, and an entire family of mallard ducks on the 11th tee box. A nice bonus if you're having a rough round on an unfamiliar course is that you get to see some interesting animals.
The clubhouse bar is nice and cheap. And the bartender Elaine is very friendly and quick to refill your cup.
Great Course!
Very challenging, well maintained Golf Course. They are in the process of aerating the greens, so beware they will be Sandy if you play there in the next couple of weeks. Even with them being sandy, the greens wouldn't stop me from playing another round soon. Food and Beverage prices are very reasonable compared to other golf courses. Great Course Overall!

Good Design
A little out of the way; however, worth the drive. Well designed course, some long par 4's & tricky sand dunes. I always enjoy playing here!
Long and challenging par 5
Very excellent experience and will make you step up your game
Great course design; very fast greens
Lots of mounds and undulating rough along the fairways; you must hit straight. Greens very fast, but surface should be a little smother. Bunkers deep!
course i ok
play was slow.course marshall was not doing anything to speed up play.tees are a mess as far as being clean.sand traps had more dirt than sand, also had stones in them.just seem like the whole golf course was a mess from parking lot to club house, practice range to tees.don't know if i will go back.there are better courses out there.
Great track. Course is one of my favorites.
Fairways overseeded and in good condition for winter. Greens were not good. Too fast for downhill putts and to firm for approach shots and pitch shots.
Great track. One of my favorites.
Course was in average condition for winter. Greens we very fast. Downhill putts were difficult to get close. Greens were very firm and it was difficult to get close, whether approaching or pitching.
Very Challenging course. Fairways were in good shape, but greens were terrible.
The pro shop staff and the restaurant staff were wonderful - very friendly and knowledgeable. The course was very challenging - but we enjoyed it enough to golf an extra 9 holes!!! The greens were the worst part of the course. =No pictures on the hole signs and no pictures on the score cards made it tough to know how to play the hole.
Bad day course very wet lot of standing water greens fast fairways wet
Course is laid out nIcely through neighborhood too many moguls lots of water. Cross many streets. Course is challenging but not overwhelming
Terrible Greens..... Need attention
Interesting lay out. Several odd things for the first time player that are not visible from the tee box. Bigness concern by FAR is the rock hard greens. Way overdue on aeriation!
The greens are in normal shape for Southeast Winter Golf. The majority of our players are complimentary of our putting surfaces. Aerification is not a normal practice this time of the year. We invite you to come back and play during the spring season.
Pins in very tough spots
Bunkers in excellent shape, fairways run smoothly - course requires some thought
unfair greens
I will never play Crowfield again in the winter months. The course overall is in good shape, very hard turf conditions. The greens were the most unfair conditions I have ever seen. It was not really very enjoyable, especially on the greens. They were like trampolines. You should be rewarded for good shots in golf and it was nearly impossible to hold any kind of shot onto the greens. Why spend all the money overseeding fairways and not the greens. It was like putting on concrete. Overall I was completly disgusted with the greens and am very upset I waisted my money to play there.
Great course
Very challenging course, will push your technical ablities. In good shape for winter golf.
Good deal, not fun
The course itself was in pretty good shape. The value for the dollar was awesome as I had booked one fo the GolfNow Hot deals - making it an awesome value. But even for the value - this is just not a fun course to play. The course is very challenging - if you are not exact with your shots, the ball rolls fast past where you want it to be - there is a down hill slope on the greens, so you must know how to stop it.
There is tons of bunkers.. and hazards.. so for the average player.. playing this course is frustrating, and just not fun at all.
Course in great shape
Staff was friendly and very helpful. Everything about the facility was very clean
One of the best courses in Charleston
One of the best courses in Charleston but out of the way of normal traffic. This time of year, greens were a little bumpy because they didn't oversees but they rolled pretty try and FAST. Fairways and bunkers in good shape despite the recent rain.
This course is tough but rewards fairway play
Bring your A game with you.Its tough but fair in the same sense. It plays to draws and fades
Played with his group on that day, seems the bunker reconstruction has been basically adding dirt to them. Course is really in poor condition, the city needs to spend some time and money on crowfield. pace of play has been getting worse, now a 5+ hour round is normal
