got precision approach shots?
Well is simply as that.... If it is your first time playing here try to get an idea of the lay up, I personally use golflogix for courses that I'm playing for the first time it really helps, that being said the really hard and interesting part of this course is the greens firm fast and extremely undulating, a couple of greens are spotty but overall a great course, got game? bring it !! put it to the test.....Goooooo playyyyy. ...
Challenging, but in a good way.
This course is tough if you struggle off the tee box. Hitting a bad tee shot will make the rest of the hole very difficult. Greens seemed fast and were patchy in many spots. Fairways were in great condition but they are very hilly, so your ball is rarely on a level surface even after a good tee shot.
Losing the greens on course
It seems the green problems are widespread in the lowcountry. Some areas on the greens were puttable but the pin setter didnt bother putting the cup there. USGA WOULD FIND PUTTING SURFACES UNPLAYABLE.
Most technically challenging course in town
A mix of unusual dog legs and elevated greens makes this one of the best bang for your buck courses in charleston. The greens are well maintained and the beer selection is awesome. Crowfield is the most challenging course on golf now in the charleston area and probably the most fun to play. That being said if you don't play regularly you may find the course too difficult.
Unhappy
We were a threesome and play was extremely slow. We had to quit with three holes to play. There didn't seem to be any enforcement of the speed of play according to times listed on the score card.
Hard Greens
Impossible to stop the ball on the green. Not very good for putting either.
Fun but Tough
This course was in good shape considering the recent weather condition. Very enjoyable but tough to get a good tee shot into position. Very tough course
Challenging but fun course
This was my second time playing here and it was as good as the first time. If you like doglegs then this is the course for you. There are a bunch of doglegs, both right and left, throughout the course. The greens were recently aerated and were very quick. The only bad thing about the whole course is they don't have a cart girl but they do give you a cooler at the bar if you want a few drinks. To me, this is the best value of all the courses I have played in the Charleston area. Have fun but bring a few extra balls!!!
Tough around the greens
The course was in pretty good shape for this time of year. My only complaint would be the bunkers. Many of them contained rather large (golf ball size) rocks mixed in with the sand. It was impossible to know if any were in the sand under the ball.
This course requires precision on your approach shots. Hitting the wrong part of the green can easily lead to a 3 putt.
Great place to play some golf and better your game.
Would play here everyday if I could. The Greens are crazy hard. Play here you'll love it. Staff is great as well
Nice layout
Course needs to start growing. I mean, the grass in many areas as well as the greens. The greens on some holes were almost like putting on dirt. They need at least a month of growth to repair them to good putting standards. The sand traps are still very bad on some holes to the point of pulling your ball out of them. And I am a good sand player and not just saying this to discourage golfers. I paid $27 plus tax, and I would say in this condition, it's a $20 max course. $15 to $20 is more like it. Wait until the end of May to play this course.
Hidden Gem
A must play course. Well worth the price. Undulating fairways and greens. I will play this course every time I am in the Charleston area.
Nice, but difficult course
The pace was getting very, very slow at the end. No ranger around to speed the 4-some's up.
Excellent value
Great value. Greens are too small and pin placements were sometimes only 6 feet from the edge of the green.
Fun Course for the Price
Would recommend for about anybody. Not to hard, but challenging. Greens are pretty fast, but course was in good condition. Not to far from James Island where I live.
Excellent course
Staff was extremely friendly
Course is more difficult than it looks
I will playing this course again
Touch Greens!
Overall the course was in great shape. Not very long from most tees, the course certainly presents a tough challenge with small, extremely undulating green complexes. The fairways are nice and green with preferable lies throughout, however even the fairways have severe slope, making the course a challenge to any who play.
Bunkers are prevalent and sand is fluffy, so fairway play from the friendly sand becomes somewhat a challenge.
Great overall design and good test of every shot in the bag!
slowwwwwwww
nice layout, good variety of holes, fast/firm greens. pace of play a joke, no rangers called pro shop after it took 3+ hours for 9 holes no body cared. skipped 3 holes and zipped right thru. will not see me again
Mini mogul challenge
The first time on this course makes it very difficult.
Both sides of fairways are lined with mini moguls and greens are well protected with large deep traps and elevation. Greens are very fast and difficult to hold. Bring your GPS since the layout is hard to read especially if you miss the fairway. A challenge for single digit handicappers.
We appreciate your feedback and apologize that your round was slow. We had a ranger that was working with the immediate problem on the golf course. Unfortunately, people do not always cooperate when asking them to pick up the pace and/or move holes on the golf course. We invite you back to play the golf course again if you are ever in the area.
