Very undulating greens. Good value $
Not busy when I went. Had plenty of space in front and behind. Able to play in 3 hrs 15 min. Course in good shape.
Difficult but fun course
Great layout. On the shorter holes, the fairways have a lot of mounds and skinny greens. Longer holes you obviously have to hit the ball farther so they give you more room to play with.. Either way, you best have your "A" game. I liked the greens, different levels made putting interesting. Only downside to the course is that there were a few places on some of the fairways where drainage seems to be an issue. A couple of the tee boxes were a little hairy, like they had a problem and they're trying to grow the grass back. For that reason I give the course 4's instead of a 5
My favorite local value course
Crowfield is a tough play but fun and fair. Stay in the fairway or you're done. Greens are well maintained and roll true.
Great Value
Course was in good condition, and got a great deal for a Saturday afternoon. Some of the greens by design were questionable and made the greens hard to green and unfair at times. Staff was friendly, and pace of play was decent. For the value, it is a course worth playing when in the Charleston area.
Good course
Sight Iines are good....greens are challenging....bunkers need some care ---
undulatig greens are very challenging
course drains well after Andrea passed thru.i will definitely play again.
Challenging, but playable
This course does a great job of utilizing the natural swales that are available, and the architect added some of his own to create a beautiful course. The greens were in great shape, and rolled smoothly. They were also receptive when you hit them, because it has rained quite a bit here recently. It would have been worth it at the regular price, but I got a hot deal for $25... which made this an incredible deal! I will definitely be going back.
Solid, tough course, great value
This is a solid test from the back tees. It can be quite tight off the tee on some holes, and is never "wide open" on any tee. There are houses in play on a number of holes, if you spray the ball. The greens have different sections, with large undulations. I couldn't read them at all. They are common bermuda, and I know how to read bermuda greens, but I was clueless on these. They were a bit slow and bumpy, but I was assured by my playing partner that they are usually faster. There had been a lot of rain in the days prior. Three-putting will be common if your irons aren't very accurate. Pace of play was great, which was surprising, since there were a lot of people out and it's not an easy course. Great value.
7/18/2013
Punched greens on 7/15/13. would have been nice to know before booking the tee time. besides this, would play again. i always enjoy this course
A well groomed course
Pace of play was great. Well maintained. Staff was pleasant and accommodating especially the Starter.
My Visit to Crowfield Golf Club
The course was nice and enormous. Many of the holes were challenging and interesting. The seventeenth hole was the most difficult one for me, because the shot was over and between two small lakes. It is almost certain that average person will not make the shot, because there is a pre-position ball drop on the other side of the small two lakes.
ISSUE: There were no starters at the first or tenth hole, so it seemed to be about eight minutes between each player. On many occasions there were several players were waiting to tee-off or either letting other players play through.
SOLUTION: Have two designated starters on the first and tenth hole.
Great course.
This was a great course, a bit difficult but in pristine shape! We liked it so much when we saw the Hot Deal we went back for a 2nd round.
Nice Course and good value
This is a regular course for me when visiting the Charleston area. I am never displeased by the condition...even with all the rain the east coast has been getting....the course played well. The fairways and greens were in great shape. Hoping to play again in the near future!
Beautiful course with challenging greens.
Beautiful course with challenging greens. I would definitely play again.
Crowfield golf course is pristine.
Crowfield golf course is taken care of very well. Pristine fairways, greens, tee boxes make it nice to play. This course will challenge any golf handicap. I recommend this course to everyone.
The course has a good layout
Even though I liked the layout of this course, the greens were horrible. The greens were hard as a rock and to top it off most of the greens are small, the ones that are "normal" size" had severe undulation. There was no way to stop a long iron or go for a par 5 in two. I would not play this course again. Lastly, as I was checking in the staff was somewhat annoyed that I had made a reservation on-line. This in itself caused me to question why I even would want to play this course.
Challenging!
This course will test all of your golfing abilities from awkward lies to unbelievable undulating greens not to mention strategically placed sand traps that get in the way. This is a must play course for anyone and a challenging design to shoot a low on.
Very tough course, under repair
I have always enjoyed this course b/c it is one of the toughest in the lowcountry. No shot ever seems level. The course is under repair in many places right now. There is no practice green. I was told they are putting in a Florida Bermuda (first in SC to try it). There are several portions of fairways that need work and many bunkers have rocks. That doesn't take away from beauty of course and the challenge.
Tough course, but still fun to play.
The course was in good shape. The greens were the kind of condition expected during the rye/Bermuda transition. Crowfield is a challenging layout with bunkers both numerous and deep, and very undulating greens. We played in 4:20, which is good enough. At $35 the price was reasonable.
