About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2018.
Originally opened in 1988 as a private club called Crickentree, the course changed its name and opened to public when it changed ownership in 1996. The golf course is known for its beautiful setting that has everything from meandering streams to towering hardwoods. There is also a scenic 17-acre lake that comes into play on a few holes. The risk-reward layout appeals to players of all skill levels. With good course management, the rewards are plenty, but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper. The golf course is just over 7,000 yards from the back tees, equipped with holes that will please long hitters as well as shorter, trickier holes.

Hot Summer Sun
I play this course regularly because it is one I can get on as a single during the week without any problems. The staff is always very friendly. The hot summer and lack of rain are starting to take its toll on the course. The tee boxes are in poor shape and very hard. It is difficult to get long tees into the ground. Fairways are OK and the greens are in good shape. This is a course that if you are not a good driver you are going to loose balls. The woods are thick and on every hole. Very nice layout and a good challenge. I will be back to play and when using golf now you cant beat the price!
Challenging course, Poor conditions
First time playing this course. Greens had dead areas anywhere from a foot or two to 3 yards big. fairways were mostly in good shape except for some spots where there was a considerable amount of hardpan. staff was great. course is very tight and difficult but is much worse due to conditions being in terrible shape. I can't recommend this to a friend, take your money elsewhere
Best bang for your buck!
Using the Golf Now application available on all cellular devices I was able to make a Tee time and play for a very reasonable price. I play this course more than any other course in the Columbia area because it's so consistent. The greens are in good shape and are a little slow which is good for me being less than decent with a putter.
Course is challenging
Course has a great layout, with a lot of challenging shots, both off the tee-box and in the fairway. Got to keep it in play and make some target shots, but we enjoyed our round.Golf pro was real friendly and informative about course. Due to lack of rain the fairways and greens were in bad shape. He said they were working on greens and they should be better in a few weeks. If you go play, call and check on condition of course before booking. We will go again when its in better shape.
what a dump!
First off, I am not a golf snob.. I play reasonably priced courses with the occasional treating of myself to higher quality courses.. I saw there was a hot deal on a course I played a long time ago, and figured, for the cost of 2-3 buckets of range balls, how bad can it be? It was not pretty. the greens were the worst greens I have ever played with huge bare spots as if someone used the greens as a driving range.. i dont know if it is part of their maintenance, but there was thick white sand virtually covering 1/4 to 1/2 of every green... mini weeds seemed to be popping through the greens as well, seemingly altering every putt.. the cart path was all choppy asphalt/concrete when it wasn't just bumpy dirt. tee boxes were fine. this place needs an overhaul.. it could be so nice here with a little bit of work
good be a bear
no food/beverage, grens miserable, once a great course, still a challenge, beautiful layout
Worst Course I Have Played In Two Years!
Course has completely went downhill. The greens were absolutely the worst greens I have putted ever.
Getting bad... fast
I played this course last year and it was in great shape, played it earlier this year say in March and it wasn't great but it was okay. Played again within the past week and wow its gotten terrible. The greens were just awful. Not sure what happened to make this course go so down hill but whatever it is they need to change. I won't be going back for a while until the course a lot better.
Heartbreaking for what it could be
The good first: Spectacular layout. Wow factor kicked in on #12. (Started on the back). Steep downhill par-3 past trees over water to the green WAAAAY down below. Trees crowd you on most of the fairways. Which I like. But if you are wild with a driver, you will be miserable. Lots of water. Favorite hole is the par-4 down hill #9: Steep right dogleg with water along the side with a creek in the landing area to punish the greedy.
The bad: The second ingredient for any golf course (after land) is what? Right! It's grass. (Unless you live in Aruba) there is no such thing as a course without grass.
This tract is a shambles, all threadbare and worn out. Huge part of the problem on many holes is the lack of cart-path. Many of the greens made me think of green Dalmatians with brown spots.
Speaking of cart-path they are terrible. When driving on it, be sure your tongue is no where near your teeth, or you will bite it off. Also a problem for those with back or "lower" back problems.
Bring you GPS. I found three yardage markers. Luckily the pro shop gave me the course description book, which is very helpful.
narrow fairways and fast greens
Enjoyed my round. The fairways are more narrow than i am comfortable with but nice. The greens are plenty fast but some spots definitely need more attention. Surprised to find no cart girl selling beverages or snacks. Overall pleased with my afternoon and will likely play again.
Great course
Awesome course and great deal for $30. Rode by myself and hardly anyone there so got around in 3 hours. Very tight course, I never hit my driver.
Great.
Nice course. Played in March and the condition was coming along great! I'm sure in a couple of weeks it will be beautiful
Well worth the trip
Middle of winter and the course was still in great shape to play. Great layout
Great Course!
A good challenging course with appropriate water hazards and sand traps. The course was in fantastic shape for this time of year. The sand traps were well groomed and in good condition. The greens were firm and fast despite the amount of rain recently. The greens ran on the small side which made for some challenging approach shots.
Scenic
Cart path only on the day I played. However I enjoyed my day due to the view offered on each Tee box and hole lay out. Will return to play the course when it has dried out.
Very nice course...
Played on a cold day not many othree people out... The course was in excellent condition considereing it was mid January... Very challening holes...
Pleasantly surprised
Im from out of town so first time here. I didn't expect much because it was December and lots of rain the days prior. I will have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by the lay out and conditions. Greens were decent for this time of year. I got a hot deal and it was worth every penny. I would def play this course again.
Bad course bad condition
Went to play this course based on website information from the course. We arrived and first thing we noticed was that parking lot was empty not a good sign. We went in person behind counter said we were set take any cart. WE went to first tee and noticed that leaves were alll over course and did not see any workers at all. First bunker got in noticed that had not been raked or maintained and was full of leaves and debris. This was condition for all 18 holes greens were so so, Lost balls in fairway due to no maintenance, looks like they are taking money but not putting any back into course. Made turn and no food just some soda and water. I will not be coming back or recommending that anyone play there.
Canuck down south
Tough course for the money. Good course for the discount. Ball placement is key or you'll have uneven lies or putts.
