About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2018.
Originally opened in 1988 as a private club called Crickentree, the course changed its name and opened to public when it changed ownership in 1996. The golf course is known for its beautiful setting that has everything from meandering streams to towering hardwoods. There is also a scenic 17-acre lake that comes into play on a few holes. The risk-reward layout appeals to players of all skill levels. With good course management, the rewards are plenty, but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper. The golf course is just over 7,000 yards from the back tees, equipped with holes that will please long hitters as well as shorter, trickier holes.

A great and challenging course
The course is nice, rather well maintained. Most of the greens are very nice a few need more attention but then again there was almost a month of rain. The fairways are a good grade, no excessive roll. The roughs are what they should be, rough. All in all I'd give it a 8.5 out of 10.
This course has fair and challenging holes.
The greens need some work in places and hopefully they can get them back soon.
Challenging shot makers course.
You will need a GPS or course knowledge to score well. I haven't played the course in 10 years but after playing not sure why it has been so long, will definitely be back soon.
Difficult but Fun
This is a hard test of golf, I hit every club in my bag, The fairways are tight and water is in play on most of the holes. Bent grass greens with just the right amount of undulation make pin placements the key. You have got to give this place a shot.
Used to be premier
This course has one of te best layouts in the area. It used to be in pristine shape. When i pulled into the entrance there were weeds growing over tr sign. Once i saw the half dead practice green i was disappointed. We did only pay $18 each so it was well worth that. I was just expecting the nice plush grass it used to be. Im assuming the course is losing money and just giving up. They said te grill hasnt been open since jan! If your in the area and get it for $18 its well worth it. Walk in rate is $29. NOT worth it.
This course will make you think.
A very Challenging course, narrow must hit ball straight to avoid penalty. Overall a great course.
Great Course
Staff very friendly. I certainly advise players to support this course because of the great staff. The course is challenging which makes it a great play. Two thumbs up.
Good Value
Course was generally in good condition. Some black marks on greens, but pins placed away from marks. Only criticism is that I would like more pronounced yardage markers (sticks) than those markers in the ground. Our group misclubbed several times.
It was great for the cost
I haven't played golf for long but my biggest frustration was the lack of cart paths or the poor upkeep of them. I felt like I was driving in the woods the whole time even though I was on the cart path!
Other than that the course was in good condition despite the torrential downpours we have had. The greens were super fast!
The fairways were in great condition, and the layout is challenging.
Despite the nice fairways, many of the greens on the front nine where in a state of ill-repair - black marks, dead areas, etc. The greens on the back nine were in much better shape.
The course and staff were great. The food at the turn was not very desirable and I over heard others speaking to this same issue.
The course and staff were very enjoyable. I booked on GolfNow for $20 per player and cannot say I have ever played as nice a course for that green fee. Many people in the parking lot were speaking about the lack of food at the turn. No chili--microwave threw the breakers--etc and as a retail person it seemed that a good deal of profit was lost here as we had to stop at Wendy's.
Tough but enjoyable.
A very challenging course that will test your accuracy at a high level.
Good for the price and great track but greens need attention
Course is very nice in that it has a ton of character and each hole is different. A lot of elevation changes and a few blind shots increases its difficulty. The greens have a moderate undulation which made a few hole locations very difficult. The only knock on this course was the condition of the greens. There were many black dead spots on just about every green which come into play on every putt. Other than than that a really nice course to play.
Good Test
The course was in good shape as usual. There were a few bad spots on the greens, due to cooler/rainy winter, but they rolled well. They will be punching the greens shortly. The holes are lined by trees and it's easy to find some trouble.
Nice layout
The staff never informed you of condition of the greens ( patches fungus). The greens were still fast. The fairways are cut close. No cart person. They should not be charging no more 39.00 for weekend/holiday. 25.00 weekly rate. To many rocks in sand traps someone can get hurt. Not as premier what they think at course. I would not recommend course for their prices.
Excellent Layout!
The course was in good shape. Greens were true except some areas where a fungus had developed. They were splotchy. Great course overall. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a challenge.
Pretty good course...
I was pleasantly surprised. A challenging course with ball placement necessary to play at par. Fairways were perfect. Greens were fast but some were splotchy. Tees were in fine shape and tee boxes were well marked. We were almost alone so pace of play was all our own. Staff at pro shop was friendly and professional and fairway staff (mowers) were certainly respective of our play, a nice touch. Cart paths are a disaster, with old asphalt severely impacted by tree roots in many places. Would definitely recommend this course and would play again if back in the area. I especially liked hole 17, almost an island green with a nice twist with the tees. Way to go!
Interesting but fair layout, not in good condition.
Interesting layout, challenging par 3's. Course not in good condition. Fairways were thin, greens in very poor condition, and cart paths were terrible. This good be a very good course but requires lots of maintenance and attention.
Wonderful layout with some interesting holes.
An individual in the Pro Shop was very dismissive and the pace of play was almost unbearable; 5 hours 40 minutes.
VERY CHALLENGING COURSE
IF I LIVED NEAR THIS COURSE, I WOULD JOIN TODAY. YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHERE TO HIT THE BALL ON MOST HOLES
