Ok
3 times we were on the actual cart path and the dang cart shut down and made me go in reverse. 2 times we were on the fairway and same issue. Not the first time this has happened there either. Course is laid out ok but fairways are a bit rough. A few cart paths you have to go back where you came from just to turn down another path to get to the next hole. Not a very good flow but for the money it is what it is.
Nice all the way around
Had 2 or 3 greens that they were working on
Nide but challenging course
Will definitely play again
Bring a hammer for your tees.
This course is in rough shape. Starter non existent on a Saturday at noon? 2 fivesomes on the course made pace slow. Multiple greens had rough patches that basically make it unputtable. 17’s green is so bad my partner joked that I landed in the bunker on the green. I’m admittedly still getting used to Carolina courses moving from FL here in November but this course is very unforgiving in a lot of ways. The ground is absurdly hard so much so that I advise bringing a small hammer to knock your tees in the ground. If your balls lands short of the green forget about it holding where it lands and just pray that it doesn’t shoot sideways and bounce OB. Multiple holes are right next to each other so more times than not you’re waiting for someone to clear out of the wrong fairway. Imo Willow Creek is a much better value for relatively the same price.
Greens in GREAT shape.
Greer got a new Greens superintendent maybe 3 years ago. Course is SO much better shape. For this to be a late January day the greens were great, smooth and true. Not a long course but a bunch of up down and side hill lies. Placement off the tee and position below the hole around the greens will serve you very well here. Fair course but very much allow for the slope of the fairways. We will be back. Course is SO much approved from just a few years ago. Job well done !
Avoid This Course
I showed up to the course early morning and immediately got the sense that the old gentlemen in the pro shop was having a rough day or something got under his skin. Man spoke to me like I was dumb and unfamiliar with the sport. After I paid I go hit some practice putts and the same guy starts yelling at one of his employee almost trying to embarrass him. He was being very loud and obnoxious. He also was being “smart” to some of the other fellow golfers. Shame on him. Awful playing conditions. Would NOT recommend. Never going back.
So unexpected!
I have lived in western North Carolina for over 20 years. I am very familiar with elevated tees and greens, leaning fairways and undulating greens. Having played Greer a few times I can't help but think of it as a misplaced world. This is such an unexpected find in this area. The elevations, the sloping fairways and the undulating greens are dumbfounding (in a good way)! I'm about 1.25 hours away and won't think twice about making the trip to play this course; a land before dozers ( LostWorld, Land Before Time way)! It's so worth the trip to play. Don't miss out! Give it a shot!
Nice course
Course in good shape, stay on the fairway if you don’t want to loose your ball in the thick grass. First time playing the course and would play again when Im back in the area.
