Northwoods Golf Course
About
Northwoods Golf Club is one of the Columbia area's premier public courses. P.B. Dye, son of renowned course architect Pete Dye, designed the layout, incorporating some of his father's signature features. The golf course is player friendly enough to appeal to any skill level but there are some challenges in store as well. Mature trees line most of the fairways and there are a few strategically placed bunkers that come into play. You won't come across much water on this golf course and it's not terribly long either. It's gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. The golf course's signature hole is the par-4 14th, which features the famous Dye railroad ties bordering a lake that hugs the bunkered green. Northwoods G.C. also offers a practice facility with a lighted driving range and putting green.

Course soggy from rain but mostly in good shape
Had a good outing with little golf pressure. Maybe due to the rains over the weekend so yes the sand traps had water and there were muddy spots but all in all 80% of the course was in very good shape (thanks to the rain). Play was a bit slow due to a foursome ahead of me so I jumped a hole on the back nine and had nobody ahead or behind me the rest of the round.
Lot of potential
Greens and fairways were fantastic.
If the tee boxes were level and had grass the experience would have been a lot better. Fairways were good but the rough in a lot of cases was sand not long grass
Course staff was kind and layout was interesting.
Cart paths were horrible. Some of the worst I’ve experienced.
They seem to be doing a lot right and would like to play again in the future.
Definitely worth a play
Played this course based on a hot deal.
Good fairways, great greens, decent tee boxes. Cart paths are pretty rough, but great course to play.
Nobody on the Course this past Monday!
Wow, what a treat it was to show up at this fairly busy public course at 11am and see a parking lot not even one third full! I basically had "the course to myself" playing as a single with no one in front of me or behind me. People said maybe golfers were turned off coming given they were irrigating several fairways (which I easiy worked around) and the greens were recently aerated so they were a bit bumpy from all the plug holes. But all in all the course was in great shape. Just one of those lucky days timing wise.
It was excellenet.
It was excellent.
I wanna go again.
By the way, I lost something
so I sent email.
Could you check it?
Thanks.
Thank you for your review, Parkar. We will pass along your positive experience to our team at Northwoods Golf Course. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Great time
Greens just aerated but the course was in great condition. Narrow course at times but a lot of fun
Love this layout.
The Spur is always in good shape and the layout is stimulating due to the unique layout.
5 somes welcome, even 6!??
At some point these knuckleheads decided 5somes are ok? Yesterday I witnessed a 6some make the turn..
And these guys have the audacity to talk about pace and time limits in the afternoon..? Joke.
The Course is in decent shape, fairways and greens are good.
Almost all of tee boxes are a dirt box! Unbelievable..
I like this golf course. It is a good layout, Just don't expect any customer courtesy and go play.

Course Staff
Course is in good condition, although it is always wet. Does not drain well, but maintenance does well. However staff at the desk complained about the use of golfnow. Other than that good day.

Great Value!
Played on Monday 4/11 in the morning. Staff was extremely friendly, the starter accompanied me to the tee box and gave me some pointers about the course to be aware of. Fairways a little bare in spots but greens rolled true and were in great shape. Nice driving range and chipping/putting area ($4 for a small bucket of about 25-30 balls). Overall had a great day and look forward to coming back.
Painfully slow
We waited on every single shot, and after 12 holes figured it wasn’t worth the pain. Interesting layout, but pretty rough tee boxes and thin in the fairways. Not a good value

SC Gem
Made a trek down South to escape the Midwest weather and catch a practice round of the Masters. Nice course, great layout, had rained quite a bit so not fair to comment on the upkeep of the course. Would definitely play if back in SC.. Definitely the nicest of the Columbia area courses.

Enjoyable round
Enjoyed the course. Fairways still looked to be in winter mode some. Heavy rains in last couple days made the course fairly wet in spots so cart path only for carts.. greens were firm and in good shape. Cart paths are a bit “rugged” in places.
