Springfield Golf Club

This year has been a nightmare for sand traps in SC & NC due to Covid.
The bunkers at Springfield today were the best I've seen all year!
In fact, they were PERFECT

Always enjoy playing Springfield, great greens, challenging holes, great test for all levels of golfers, great Pace of play, well worth the money!

I've played Springfield several times and I love that the course offers plenty of risk-reward trade-offs. In most cases, there are bunkers in fairway landing areas and the greens have enough slope and elevation changes where accurate iron play is rewarded. My only criticism is that the course is not very walkable. I prefer to walk, but with the elevation changes and long distances between holes, it's pretty tough to walk 18 at Springfield. I typically ride 18 or if I want to walk, I only play nine holes. The back nine is much easier to walk than the front.

The staff is very friendly and their range has plenty of room. They have also done a great job in adapting to COVID-19 restrictions.

Excellent staff, 3.5 hour pace at 820 tee time. Many tee boxes recently aerated, so blue tees are playing back and deep. Fairways and ruff in great shape, with greens rolling pure. Aaron Black has assembled a great crew and the course is showing it!

Good luck getting a tee time, the secrets out! Taylor the superintendent has kept the course in terrific shape despite the increase in play. If you have the chance to play, don’t pass it up!

Major rain overnight and wasn’t sure we would get a round in but course drains really well and had no issues. And on top of that, course was fairly wide open and made for a leisurely Friday round.

The greens are rolling great! Course conditions were superb! Jim at check in may be the nicest guy in the golf industry! Love this place!!

I have been reading for about 2 weeks about how good of a condition this course is in so today, I had to find out for myself.

A 1230p tee time on a Tuesday with a clear blue sky and about 75 degrees, it was just perfect.

The course is playing incredibly! The tee boxes, the fairways and the greens are all in excellent condition.

I really like this course and the way it plays, you know when a course suits your eye and this is it fo me. There are some acute doglegs that challenge you to place your tee shot just so. Many holes will challenge you to place your second shot just so to approach the green.

I think my favorite holes are all the Par 3's. All with elevated greens, green side bunkers and visually beautiful.

The Staff here is fantastic! Dan the starter is a great guy who knows the course well and is willing to give you the local knowledge.

There is a driving range, practice putt and chipping area as well.
The carts are all clean and in good repair.

All in all just a fantastic experience for a public course which I would highly recommend.

I played this course in picture perfect weather. Breezy, sunny and mid-70s. I never felt rushed or delayed by other groups. The practice facilities were nice.

The greens were very fast but they had just been mowed and it had been very dry.

This course had very difficult par-3 holes. Lots of elevation. Very narrow margins for error. It was not unfair - just the kind of challenge that makes you focus on every shot the way you should!

Course was in great shape. My only complaint was a couple of pin placements. Nineth hole was crazy, 6 and 11 was on the edge, Had an enjoyable afternoon, nice foursome. Staff as always was great.

I really like courses that have a 150 post so I can gauge the distance to the pin. I do have or like using a range finder but am old school and like to play by feel. Also the markers in the ground are not always easy to find as they have sunk into the ground. A 150 post speeds play even for those that use a range finder as I have seen the go to their ball, get the distance, then get the club. A 150 should put it between 2 maybe three clubs which you can bring to the ball.
