One of the Best Around
I generally get to Boone once a year during the summer and get a chance to play this course. It is one of my favorites courses that I have been able to play. The staff is always friendly. It is the only public course around so prices are a little higher ($72 on a Saturday). And it’s usually really crowded so the pace isn’t great-but I do think I finished in under 4.5 hours. But the conditions are always really good. Fairways and tees are in great shape. Greens are really really good. Firm and quick. And pretty undulating for the most part. They are a lot of the teeth of the course Bc generally there is a lot of room to hit your ball. The course is flatter than you’d ever expect built in a valley with only a couple of mountainous holes.
Hole 1 is a slight dogleg right. Second shot plays over a creek that slopes pretty hard to the front. You need to be below the pin on most greens on the course.
Hole 2 is a longer dogleg right. Don’t go right or you’ll be blocked out to the green.
3 is a longer par 3 over a natural wet land area with a creek to the left. I think in general the course has a tough set of par 3s.
4 is a good chance at par. A dogleg right medium length par 4 with a generous fairway.
5 is a medium length par 4 dog leg left. Aim your drive over the mound to the left. The green is elevated and really tricky to chip and putt.
6 is a dog leg right par 5. Don’t go right. Unless you hit it really long you’ll have to lay up short of a pretty big pond. There is a large green that slopes steeply from the back. DO NOT GO OVER THE PIN!
7 is a hard dogleg left. I always hook my drive in the left trees. The green is severely undulating and very tricky.
8 is a long par 3. It was playing almost 200 yards today from the white tees.
9 is a narrow uphill short par 4. There is a creek left and hidden in front of the green. Which is very shallow.
10 is a mountain hole. Big downhill tee shot. With an uphill approach to a tight narrow long green. Aim at the right side of the fairway. The fairway slows extremely hard to the left. I hit a great drive down the middle and it kicked left all the way in the trees. Don’t miss left on your approach.
11 is a medium length par 3 with a HUGE green. Check the pin position. It’s important.
12 is a short par 4 that doglegs hard near the end. The green is elevated. But if you drive it straight it’s a good chance to make a par
13 is a medium length par 4 that moves slightly to the left. Aim over the middle of the bunker on the left. You can’t see the green from the tee. The second shot plays downhill. Don’t go long.
14 is a wide open down hill medium length par 4. This is a good chance for par.
15 is a short par 4 with a creek in front of the green that forces a layup off the tee.
16 is a medium length par 3 over a natural waste area to a big sloping green.
17 is a long slightly uphill par 5. It’s pretty wide fairway. But there is a collection area left of the green. Don’t miss there.
18 is a long par 4 finishing hole. The tee shoot is through a chute of trees to a pretty wide fairway. Their is a big pond short and left of the elevated green. The green is pretty hard to hit. And a back hole location is tough.
If you are in the area this is a great course. Plan ahead Bc tee times go fast and go give it a play
Awesome as always!
Can't say enough about this course and it's staff!
Always the best!
Great course in Boone, NC
Was on vacation for a few days in the area and played Boone Golf Club one morning. Beautiful course in great condition. Staff were super friendly. Pace of play was just fine for us as we teed off about 830am (although as we made the turn the first tee was packed with folks waiting to start). Highly recommended!
Should have let us know there was a tournament before I paid all that money to take 25 minutes per hole. Played 2 holes then left
Great course
This was our first time on this course. Staff was friendly and course was well maintained. We will definitely be back.
Absolutely beautiful
Beautiful, well maintained. Surrounding mountains add to the beauty. Greens were in great shape. Staff were friendly and courteous.
Playing there again Thursday.
Top notch course and phenomenal staff
Cant say enough about this place! Great staff all the way around, very friendly and accommodating. The the course is always in incredible shape. New tee boxes have come in nicely as well. Great food and drink options. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.
I love this course
despite the rain, it was really fun to play this course again.
Great course in good condition with wide fairways and the odd hazard making it very enjoyable to play. If in the Boone area a must play
Windy Day in the High Country
Played most of The back nine in a two club wind which made shot making a challenge. Greens were slower than normal and pretty bumpy, but overall condition was pretty good for this early in the year. Normally takes 4 1/2 to 5 hours to play this course because they always try to put as many people on as possible. Probably because it was still early in the year course was not as crowded and we made it around in a record time of three hours and 20 minutes. Fun layout and depending on where they put the pins it can be a good test.
Not disappointed
Course was the slowest I’ve ever seen it. Early season conditions that will improve the experience. For the conditions the greens fees were a little high not mid summer rates but pretty close
