Hit it to 3ft, missed the putt. Photo submitted by JackStraw6 on 06/22/2017
Green conditions were terrible
Greens just punched and sanded. No warning when reserving tee time. Price way too high for greens conditions.
Great course
Great course. Excellent condition. Just wish the 19th hole measured up to the course
Got out early on the back P, course was in fine shape , only complaint was bit of a wait to get out on the front. Once things spaced out pace of play was ok. Great and changing course
Low country beauty
Willbrook is a low country gem with many live oaks, hanging moss, and the occasional alligator. From a difficulty perspective, it is both hard but fair. Fairways are wide enough if you can ignore the trees that line the holes and water is placed where it can come into play, but generally for bad shots only. The front and back nines have differing layouts with the back being tighter and the front being more open. When I played, the greens were in perfect condition and ran medium fast. If you start on the front nine, be aware that hole 1 is harder than the rest. Bogey is a good score and Par there is a bonus. I great enjoy playing Willbrook.
Never Disappointed
I’ve played this course many times and have never been disappointed. The conditions were excellent, staff was friendly and played at a brisk pace. I always come away satisfied.
Super slow play-Covid cup liners-Seriously?
The course was a total disappointment. Overgrown trees everywhere-mind you-not strategic trees-just laziness of trees not being properly trimmed- 3 to 4 tee shots unplayable(from back tees).Very poor layout. Greens slow.-- I could get past that except for 5HR PLUS RD--I could have read War and Peace in between shots--And lastly-Cheap covid liners in cups-wow.Never again
Great course. Super friendly staff.
Course was in great shape. Staff was friendly and very hospitable. Challenging layout with great scenery. Very charming and southern course. Will be back to play again.
Not so hidden gem
Willbrook golf plantation is sometimes referred to as a hidden gem. A gem it is, although not so hidden. The course does sit back from the main road through Litchfield and Pawley's Island, but it is not difficult to find. Nestled amongst several other top courses of the Grand Strand S.C., Willbrook is easily accessible. Upon arrival, there is staff available to get your clubs and check your Tee time. You pull up to what appears to be an old plantation house situated amongst old oak trees laden with Spanish moss. After checking in, you are directed to the starter near the putting green. He will either start you off of the front or back 9 and give you some advice on playing some of the holes. Throughout the course there are historical markers telling of some of the area's history. The layout is very nice, and water does come into play on almost every hole. However, it can be easily avoided on most with strategic planning. The fairways and greens were both in better shape than any of the other 3 courses I had played while in the area. Fairways were nicely trimmed and the greens were of moderate speed and rolled true. Price was a little more than other local course but not overpriced for the area and conditions. Play was at a slower pace due to time of day and year. (I played in mid July).A definite must if enjoying the area and looking for a fun round. And who knows, you might even see an alligator. I did.
Enjoyable
First time playing Willbrook. Everyone in the foursome enjoyed the course, and we plan to return in the future. Wide fairways were appreciated.
Recommend this course
Course was in great shape, we had perfect weather, we'll be back.
Wonderful course
This is my favourite course in the Myrtle Beach area. Every hole is unique, beautiful, and challenging. Surroundings are beautiful. Course was in pristine condition. Highly recommended.
Class A Course
The course is very challenging. The greens are tricky. The staff was friendly and helpful. The conditions were soggy .
Slipping
Greens were not on par with other courses in the area. Layout is terrific however the conditions were not near as good as in years past.
Terrible experience
Course and clubhouse itself were fine. The rest was a terrible experience. We got there at 1:45 for our 2:00 tee time. We didn’t get started until 2:30 with more groups behind us waiting to get going. We started on the back and our cart died on #13 and had another die on #16. Our third partner had to push our cart from 16-18 and to clubhouse. Got into another cart to start the front 9. Pace of play was terrible having to wait 5-10 sometimes even 15 minutes in between shots. Definitely not worth the $88 each we paid to play. The man running the carts out back to us deserves a raise since he told us this was the 7th time this happened today. Terrible experience.
Double booked and dead carts
A nice golf course ruined by mismanagement. We had a 2:06 tee time through GolfNow. When we arrived, morning groups had not made it in. There were no carts. After waiting a half hour past our tee time for carts, they finally became available. However, what we met off the 10th tee where we started was a double booked golf course that was absolutely packed with people. I’m not even sure how long our first nine took. The pace was so bad, that we had a cart die on us (because they had no time to charge), and even after waiting for a replacement cart, we ran into the groups in front of us. The group behind us knew the pace was so bad that they didn’t even play through. This was 4 holes in. We then had the next cart die on our 7th hole and I had to push it with my cart for two holes to get us back to the clubhouse. We were able to blow through our second nine as groups in front of us seemed to give up and leave in the twilight hours. Just an unacceptable arrangement. I would’ve rather been refunded and turned away with an explanation than experienced probably the worst golf course experience I’ve ever had.
