River Club golf course in Pawleys Island, South Carolina
PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. -- Designed by Tom Jackson, the River Club on the south end of the Grand Strand has been dishing out a buffet of creative golf for 25 years.
A common theme is sand, given its 50-plus bunkers, but there's far more to this course than white grains. It mixes in doglegs, water carries at greens and at least two ways to approach most holes.
Standout endeavors include the nearly island green at the par-3 14th hole and a Pebble Beach-like spin around water and bunkers on the par-5 18th.
Playing this Myrtle Beach-area course once only whets your appetite to try it again -- and again.
