Litchfield Country Club in Myrtle Beach
The oaks have stories at Litchfield Country Club. This 18-hole Willard Byrd design on Pawleys Island is one of the oldest golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area. In fact, its the first golf course that opened on Pawleys, in 1966. Its trees are even older.
There are Litchfield oaks that date back to the 18th century. Golfers here are liable to have an encounter with one or two of them. Byrds design doglegs around many trees and features a fair share of water carries over lakes. The course has seen few changes over the years, even in the renovation-mad era of golf. The largely unknown Byrd knew what he was doing with this pioneer in greater Myrtle Beach golf.
