Heather Glen Golf Links in Little River, South Carolina
LITTLE RIVER, S.C. -- You can tell Willard Byrd and Clyde Johnston had a lot of fun designing the 27 holes that make up Heather Glen Golf Links. I imagine a few evil cackles were emitted, too.
The boys loved their pot bunkers, sprinkling them on the golf course like salt on French fries. Atop that, they added hills, railroad ties and random pickets and crazy fairway undulations. It's a creative, unique golf course that requires the same from your game. Chess on grass. Isn't that what golf is supposed to be? At Heather Glen, there's a little flavor added from the Mad Hatter.
