Inspired by Scotland, Aberdeen Country Club has anything by a typical Myrtle Beach feel
LONGS, S.C. -- Aberdeen Country Club got inspiration for its name from Scotland's famed Royal Aberdeen. Only instead of one of the oldest golf courses in the world, Aberdeen C.C. is one of the newest in Myrtle Beach. This 27-hole facility is located in North Myrtle Beach, in one of the Grand Strand's most happening areas, but its set back near the Waccamaw River.
This makes for a golf course that weaves through hardwood trees. Course architect Tom Jackson tries to infuse each of the three nines -- Meadows, Highlands and Woodlands -- with an anything but typical Myrtle Beach feel. The fairways can be wide and the greens are bent grass. There's also much more water than you see in most of Scotland.
