Golf Association Introduces New President
(MARCH 9, 2001) - The South Carolina Junior Golf Association is proud to announce Kent Hungerpiller as the new President of the Association. Hungerpiller, 54, stepped into the position in January after serving as the Vice President since 1998.
"I am humbled and honored to be elected President of an organization whose mission statement totally focuses on youth and the honorable teachings of golf. I encourage all South Carolinians to participate with the SCJGA in this effort."
Hungerpiller is Vice-President of Kentco Inc. an electrical company in his hometown of Hartsville. He created and serves as Tournament Chairman for The Players' Championship. Through his efforts, the tournament has raised more than $50,000 for state and local programs.
"We are in a time of growth and we are fortunate to have a man with Mr. Hungerpiller's passion at the helm," said SCJGA Executive Director, Happ Lathrop. "In the Association's short ten year history, we have done a lot of good but there is so much more to do. With Kent's leadership, we will continue to grow and move forward."
This is Hungerpiller's first term. Although it officially ends in January, he is expected to serve three terms like his predecessor Robby Bennett of Cheraw.
