Championship to be held at Carmel Country Club
CARMEL, N.C. (MAY 6, 2001) - Carmel Country Club will be the host sight for the 52nd North Carolina Women's Amateur Golf Championship held from June 18-21, 2001.
One hundred twenty of the state's best golfers will compete for the title. Patty Moore, a Carmel member, is the defending state amateur champion. The three day stroke play tournament allows women to experience the thrill of competition at the highest level.

Perry Swenson, an 18 year old AJGA All American, who grew up playing golf at Carmel also plans to compete.
Carmel Country Club was founded in 1947 and the original designer of the North Course was George Cobb.
With the addition of 17 acres, the course was redesigned in 1998 by Tom Jackson.
For the North Carolina Women's Amateur, the course will be played at 5590 yards and the par will be 72.
