Tournament marks first CGA major ever staged at course
WEST END, NC- April 6-8 the Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 8th North Carolina Mid-Amateur Championship at River Landing Country Club in Wallace. This will be the first CGA major ever held at River Landing.
In 2000, Mitch Adams from Cary captured his first individual CGA title by winning the NC Mid-Am at Treyburn CC in Durham. The 43-year-old fired rounds of 72-72-69 (213) to win by three shots over Steve Jones of Oak Ridge.
The 2001 NC Mid-Am marks the beginning of the 2001 CGA championship schedule which will conclude in October with the playing of the NC Four Ball. The CGA also conducts three (invitation only) team matches. They are the Tar Heel Cup, Carolinas-Virginias Junior and Carolinas-Virginias Amateur Matches.
To be eligible for the Mid-Am, participants must be at least 30 years old and carry an index of 5.4 or less.
