Great value. Needs work.
The only disappointment about the course were the greens. They were horrible. The course was still challenging and fun for our group.
The course staff were great to talk to and explained the history of the course. It was essentially defunct a few years ago and purchased. The new owners have been working hard to restore it to its previous quality which I understand was very good.
I would recommend this course to any novice or intermediate golfer.
Bad greens
The course has plenty of potential to be great. The views are hard to beat, but the greens and the sand traps are not well kept. Some of the tee boxes were over grown. If the course was better maintained this would easily be a five star course.
Greens still very very bad
Played there over a month ago and the greens were in bad shape. Well, today they are still very bad
Great Low Country Gem
Enjoyed a nice round of golf at TGC and I highly recommend playing this course. I drove from Summerville. First time playing this course and I tied my all time best score (91) for a round so far. I’m somewhere between beginner and intermediate. I average mid 90’s. Really liked the layout, the views were gorgeous and look forward to returning again.
Some of the par 4’s played long for me, however, some of the par 5’s are reachable in two. You can make up for the long par 4’s by going for the green in two on a couple of the 5’s. One in particular, I had a good drive off the tee. If I wouldn’t have went to the right side of the green I would have made it on with my 6 iron in two. It was nearly pin high. It seems I need to work on my aim/set up.
The greens and tee boxes need a little TLC but they seem to be on the mend. I Look forward to seeing them in better shape in the future. I was able to secure my tee time through golf now at a really good rate. This was especially beneficial with the current state of the greens. Overall, I highly recommend this course and look forward to going back in the future.
What a great layout!
Current owners have put a great deal of time and effort into bring this course back from the brink. Play it ...you will not be disappointed.
Great Course for the price
There are a lot nicer courses out there but this one was very nice for the price and you can see a lot of potential for this course. You can’t expect a lot for the price but I would sure play it again and if you have a chance to play I would tell you to.
Lots of water
Great layout with lots of water, greens where a little rough but they were working on them. Well worth the time and money spent. Staff were very nice and helpful. I enjoyed my first time playing here and look forward when they get the course in a little better condition. Some members were picky of slow play and complained on us for no reasons but I just laughed it off, played with a member named Doug who was very helpful and told us about the water and hazards. We had a great time with lots of laughs especially as we left and a worker got a lawnmower stuck in the water
Only if you want to visit Beaufort .
We played here 2 years ago because we wanted our friends to walk about the town for lunch and the shops. the golf itself was just okay. The course is in poor shape although they could have some good holes. Lots of wildlife.
Very Disappointed
We booked this round on the golf now app. The greens looked as if somebody had been fighting or wrestling all over the greens there were piles of grass. Need some desperate attention.
Day time nightmare
Possibly the worst greens on the front nine I have ever played. Look as if someone had been fighting on the greens. Piles of grass and debris. When I called after we had played two holes the clubhouse, the man said, what do you want me to do? We don’t make any money off of GolfNow so basically y’all were playing for free. But we had paid $24 apiece plus tax
Your get what you pay for
The course is in horrible condition especially the fairway and greens. Majority of the fairways are riddled with weeds and holes from gophers and other poor drainage related issues. The fairways also have section of no grass where you are hitting off solid dirt. The greens will really frustrate you because they are patchy with dead grass, painted grass, and a heavy mixture of sand. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra 20 dollars and play on a decent course.
Beautiful course
The moss trees all over the course made the play even more enjoyable than the design of the course.
Saw several gators while playing. The course was very enjoyable and relaxing to play.
Course needs some TLC
Arrived at course after driving over an hour only to be informed that the front nine was closed for aeration. Interesting layout for the back nine, but unfortunately did not get to play the front. Also the first par 3 was unplayable as the sprinkler had been left on overnight. Greens and fairways were fair at best, which is a shame as the course layout and scenery was good other than the periodic military plane flying over.
Rough shape
Very disappointed with the course conditions. Minimal to no grass in the fairways, damaged greens which were basically dirt, and unkept tee boxes. Course layout is very nice, some scenic holes with lots of water., could be a real gem with some TLC at TGC. Parris Island is a far better option.
Great Layout, Needs Work
This was a beautiful layout with many nice Low Country views. Staff was friendly, great deals in pro shop. Fairways & greens weren’t very good, but it is February. This could be a great layout with some TLC.
A fun and relaxing day at the golf course
Pros:
I really enjoy playing this course. It has a great layout. A lot of variety in hole design. Nothing too challenging, which works for me since I’m not very good. Some great marsh views. And for a neighborhood course, there are a lot of holes with no houses to be seen.
Cons:
Course conditions are not great. Though they have improved since the last time I played. Most of the greens played very true with a couple exceptions. Generally pace of play is good at this course, but had some bottlenecking going on today.
Overall:
You can’t beat it for the price. This is the course you go to if you just want to relax and have fun playing golf.
good bones
this is a course that the owners are slowly bringing back. a good layout of short and long 3,4, and 5 pars with beautiful low country views through out. while the fairways were thin, needing time to come in, the greens rolled quick. another reviewer complained about the staff not being friendly, on the contrary they were great, getting me out before a twosome of beginners who were already on the tee box.
