Crown Park Golf Club is one of the newer courses along the Grand Strand, and was originally advertised as a pure golf experience, with 27 holes winding through terrain with no housing developments.
That has changed, since the club recently closed nine holes to make way for new homes. After getting off to a bad start due to a rushed deadline, Crown Park embarked on a refurbishment program, re-building the greens and converting them to TifEagle Bermuda. They also improved the course's drainage and irrigation and expanded the practice area.
It also has two, full-length practice holes, a rarity in Myrtle Beach, or anywhere else for that matter. Officials used the former first and ninth holes from the Emerald nine to convert into those practice holes. The course is a Robbie Byers design and has large greens averaging 6,400 square feet. About 10 minutes from North Myrtle beach, it was slashed from a pine forest
