Harbor at Wild Dunes Golf Links
About
Wild Dunes Harbor Course, designed by Tom Fazio, is said to be cut from some of the prettiest real estate in South Carolina. Water makes up a great deal of the Harbor Course layout. After all, half the course runs along the world’s longest water hazard, The Intracoastal Waterway. Fazio claims the Harbor Course to be one of his favorites. "Working on the Harbor Course was very satisfying to me as a designer because we had to create everything. It was a very challenging, and ultimately, a very satisfying project."

Good Course - Worth checking out
This is one of those places that’s cool if you’ve never seen. Not something I’d play all the time but definitely some good views, well kept and nice staff. Give it a try
Harbor Course
The greens were below average. The beverage cart was never seen during the 4 -5 hours we played. Not worth the money you pay. We do not recommend this course to anyone if you want the bang for your buck!
Plus the guest parking is a total mess!
Good course. Value questionable.
Course was in great shape. Lush fairways and receptive greens. The layout is very “squeezed” especially on the front 9. The back 9 opens up a bit. Green fees a little overpriced for what you are getting . With that said, I played it two days in a row due to the convenient location. (I was staying at wild dunes resort.)
Course could be better
Fairways were in excellent shape; greens in good shape; bunkers in terrible shape;
No sand, for the price you pay for this course you think they could afford to put sand in the bunkers;
Also, some of the mowing lines for the greens could be made bigger; not sure why they make them as small as they can. Also, not sure why the upkeep on this course is not the same as the Links course.
Some easy fixes would make this course so much better and the value would equal the price charged.
Low Country Gem - Harbor Course @ Wild Dunes
The Harbor Course at Wild Dunes was a good gem in the SC Low Country. Played the Harbor Course while on vacation with the fam. My kids enjoyed the challenge of the course and my wife enjoyed the scenery as she doesn’t play. We got pair with a fourth, who was really good to play with! The course was challenging and the winds coming off the marsh added an interesting twist. One hole was under repair which was a par 5, and they turned it into a par 3 until fixed. Some of The greens are a little small so your approach shot is key! The staff was great and friendly! Definitely a track I would play again if visiting Charleston.
It was nice but I’ve played other courses just as nice for a lot less money.
Nice Course but Expected More for the Price
The good things about the Wild Dunes Harbor Course
1: Staff is very welcoming and helpful.
2. Pretty course with beautiful views on most holes on the march/water.
3. Target Course with small greens which makes it interesting.
4. The drink cart came by a number of times; which is good because you never come back to the club house. Once you go out to the Marsh, you're not near anything (including bathrooms so stop at the one available before you hit the back part of the course).
5. The views are beautiful. Did I say that before (LOL).
The less than positive side.
1. Price (or more specifically value) - as a resort course priced at over $100 the golfers in my group expected a much higher-end experience. For example,
(a) The golf carts are old and do not have any GPS which is pretty much a standard in most courses we play (that cost $30 for 18 )in SC.
(b) With no GPS we purchased a yardage book. A good yardage book will describe the hole and where to hit it and other tips. Don't bother paying for the book unless you want to see an image of the hole.
(c) It was a nice course but not really outstanding for the price. The starter said the fairways were narrow but we felt they were very open. Perhaps if you have a bad slice or hook, you'd feel the fairways were tight. The greens are very small on many holes. I liked the challenge but my playing partners just found it very odd.
Also if you are wondering....
(d) No nine hole playing options
(e) No Senior rates
I enjoyed the course on a beautiful day, it was windy but not too windy and I think if it's really blowing hard, the course would be much more difficult.
If you are vacationing on the Isle of Palms - the Wild Dunes are really the only courses available to play (unless you want to drive a half hour away) so you are at the mercy of the golf course for pricing but if you really want to play and don't mind spending over $100 - go for it.
I don't think I will go out of my way to play this course again but as I said above, if you are there want want to play golf, go for it.
Always a Good Day
This was my third time playing this course and enjoyed it again. Course was in great shape and the pace of play was fine. With the wind blowing along the Intercoastal, holes 8, 9, and 10 can be killers. Looking forward to playing there again.
Harbor Course
Super narrow course, Gorgeous back 9 along the water, the fairways (if you can find them) are incredible. Some holes have pretty small greens to work with. Only downside are the biting gnats. Later tee times towards sunset are rough with the bugs
