Beautiful Course with Variety of Holes and Lake Views
The Links at Stoney Point is about an hour drive from Greenville but it is worth the drive for a fun day of golf.
This review is from the forward tees (Red/4950 yards). Also it was August in SC and a very hot and humid day. So my first recommendation is to play when it is cooler (I think fall would be a beautiful time of year to play this course).
The reason I gave the course condition 3 stars is because the greens had been aerated so they were slow and bumpy.
Overall the yardage on each hole seemed very fair for golfers playing the forward tees but for shorter hitters there are a few really long holes. Hole 10 (452 yards/Par 5) is a beast if you don't hit it a decent drive because it is also uphill for the first section of the dogleg. There are a few other holes that play longer than the stated yardage because they are also uphill. Of course, if you play golf in SC you are use to the elevation changes and clubbing up or down depending on the situation.
One of the prettiest holes is 13 (with the lake on the right). Although 13 is a par 3, it is short but the day we played was tricky because the pin was tucked on the right side.
They have a nice snack bar at the halfway point and a nice restaurant (bar & grill in club house); and the staff is great (both in the pro shop and bar&grill).
I definitely recommend playing The Links at Stoney Point.
Beautiful Golf and great lay out!
Greens were great and course was challenging! I would recommend to anybody to play this course!
Love the layout.
Great layout, course in good shape however, the pace of play was slow with no ranger to allow others to play through slow players.
Course was dead
They apparently have a water problem that they can’t water the course. It was so dry and dead it was ridiculous. Shouldn’t even be open charging money for it. I love the course but was disappointed to play it in that condition. They should just close until they can fix it.
Excellent layout
Great course for the cost. Signed up online and got a nice discounted tee time. The ONLY complaint I can offer is that I couldn’t drive in the fairways due to a watering issue. Didn’t really factor much with the way I played half the holes! The greens were firm and challenging and the layout was really nice. My daughter is headed to college nearby in the fall so I will be playing there a lot in the next few years.
Excellent value
I've played this course 3 times in the last month, through online deals. It's a screaming deal for 20 bucks, excellent deal for 30, decent deal for 40, and for 50 I'd say you're starting to get to where you could start complaining about stuff. Green are fast, layout is tough but awesome. Not super green but not bad.
Great Course
We’ll kept. Good layout. 10 out of 10 recommend. Not a single thing to complain about here. Wish I lived a little closer I would play it all the time.
Poor course setup.
Almost every pin placement on each green was on a sign hill slope. I do not remember one pin placement on a flat part of the green. It was more like a layout at Wacky golf putt putt course.
Oh there was also a junior tournament being played right before our tee time. Maybe it was tricked up for this tournament, but I think iit was unfair especially for a junior tournamant. The greens did not hold well so everything just ran off the greens, It was windy during the round so that added to it. I could see this course setup for the last day of a club championship, but not for a junior tournament. Just my two cents. I usually like to play this course, but have no desire it again.
Pretty nice track. Friendly staff.
Had a great time at Stoney Point. I’ll definitely play again when in the area.
