Something great in Greenwood besides The Dixie Drive-In!
My first time playing here, and will definitely be back. The course overall was in great shape. They had recently punched the greens, but that is a necessary evil that pays off in the long run. Was able to get around without getting in too much trouble, very comfortable layout. Best fairways I’ve seen so far this year.
It’s a private course, so Golf Now tee times are limited. If this course were an hour closer I would join, we had that good of a time.
Rude Staff
I don't ever leave reviews but we had a pretty rough experience at this course!
We booked on Golfnow and showed up 30 minutes before our tee time. We were informed they had already had groups scheduled for our tee time and unless we were willing to play the back 9 first we would need to wait for over an hour after our original tee time to begin play. Additionally, they made it clear there were no guarantees that we could even play the front 9 once we finished due to additional tee times that may conflict with us again.
The starter/ranger was not friendly at all and came around to tell us to keep pace of play up 7 times during the round. (our group of four finished 18 holes in 3:40 minutes so I really didn't thing pace of play was a problem)
Nice Course but don't play after heavy rains
This course is over an hour drive from Greenville SC so in beautiful weather it is worth the drive. However, if they have had a lot of rain or if it is going to rain I would avoid this course on that day and pick a very dry stretch of weather to go and enjoy Greenwood..
I think it is a nice course with a fun and not overly challenging layout. We played on a beautiful sunny warm day but the course had not dried out from the rain the few days before and so it was very wet and muddy. Not the fault of the course, just warning you to check on condition of course before playing. Literally there were no dry areas in the fairways to avoid casual water and some tunnels (on the cart paths) that had enough water that your cart made wakes. I will say the as the day went on the greens started to dry out nicely.
Setting aside the wet aspect of the course aside, it is a very nice course. It has a nice variation of holes (dog legs, a few holes where you need to carry a creek or pond, elevated greens, etc.)
As for playing from the forward tees (Red, not the really forward orange tees), it is a fair course. Distances are fair expect for the one Par three that is about 140 over water. But you can bailout on the fair left side. There were two tee boxes that were in poor condition but at least they were level (which is the most important aspect of the tee box).
I think if you lived locally it might be worth joining this course (it's private).
Great golf course
It is about an hour to drive for me but I keep going back from time to time as it is really nice club and golf course. The course in always in great conditions and the layout is awesome. It plays long with some water in play and undulated greens difficult to read and judge the speed. A Country club with a nice club house not though open for nonmembers.
Nice Course
Drove from Augusta, GA because the tee times before 9am were wide open. Not sure if that's normal, but I'll keep an eye out for this course again. Course is in good condition and was a challenge from the white tees (6430 yards). Enjoyed my morning round!
Great course
Greens were in perfect condition. Fairways haven’t filled in yet but are always in great condition once hot weather arrives. Always enjoy playing this course, but was told they won’t allow walking unless you’re a member. Really? It’s perfect weather for walking!! I was allowed to walk but only because of the Coronavirus/Social distancing thing. We should be encouraging walking and exercise, not prohibiting it.
Great Course
Course in great condition. Greens in great condition. I travel over an hour to play and will play again
Pro shop employee is a very condescending and unhelpful.
Great conditions and layout
Had a great time here today. Course is in great shape and the greens were exceptional. Very nice layout and fairways were plush. Staff was accommodating. We will definitely be back soon.
