The Windermere Club
About
Located just outside of Columbia, The Windermere Club sits along the banks of the lake that it takes its name from. Pete Dye designed the golf course, crafting a number of memorable holes. It's his only design in the Midlands. No two holes are alike on this challenging layout, so expect to use every club in your bag. The golf course offers a variety of risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to both low and high handicappers. There are also five, and sometimes six, tee boxes on every hole, making the golf course even more appealing for any skill level. The fairways are generous but lined with mature hardwoods and there are strategically placed bunkers to contend with. Golfers at The Windemere Club will also encounter subtle but tricky elevation changes and several lakes and ponds.

Still Solid
Play here almost every time we visit the area. It’s a great layout and the new greens are actually really nice - rolled great and even held some shots versus the bent they used to have. Pace can be slow; just double tee and fix that easily.
Looking forward to my next visit here
Loved the layout of the course. Greens were rolling fast but true. Definitely played longer than expected. Will play again if in the area.
TOUGH BUT FAIR
It was very helpful that we played with a local who knew the course. The lay out is tough with several blind landing areas. Overall the course is in good shape except for the car paths. Green rolled true and the speed was manageable. I would definitely recommend it as a course to play when in Columbia.
Great layout
The course is challenging and a lot of fun to play. I could be wrong, but seems like they replaced the greens since I last played. I know they are working on drainage, but the course was in really good shape. They really could use cart path work.
Great Layout, Poor Conditions
First time back since right after the greens were redone. Honestly, course could be great if they could do it. Layout is fantastic and don’t feel like there are any “bad holes” just challenging ones. Greens are just not there and fairways and tees are kinda rough. Overall feel a little ripped off I paid $35 for these conditions. Definitely a $25 course. Very bumpy and roll slow. Staff is always very friendly though.
Nice layout. Not good shape.
Nice layout of what most likely used to be the nicest course in town. The greens were nice though just punched. Fairways and rough were in need of some love.
Overall great layout. Very fun shot making.
Nice Layout
The course was in good shape with the exception of the sand traps. They could use some sand and raking.
The pace of play was very good on the front nine but was very slow on the back. This was due to people beginning their round on number 10 due to a small backup on number 1.
Great course and great price
This is my favorite course in Columbia and is a lot of fun to play.
Shame
The previous reviews hold true. Staff in the clubhouse didn’t give me the time of day. No one was around when I went in to get help. Cart barn kid was helpful and doing his best for being the only one on staff. Cool course layout but in bad shape. Bunkers not raked. Dirt patches on some greens. Cups not fully stamped into the ground. Course was empty except a 5some I ran into who didn’t wave me (a single) thru. Smh. But overall just a shame this course looks like it could be so great.
Blythewood country club or Windermere?
This place has the best layout in the Columbia area. The parts that need attention is greens, fairways, tee boxes, bunkers, pro shops employees, and price. This course has so much potential, but nobody has any money to make this dream a reality. I don’t even know what the name is… is it Blythewood Cpuntry Club, or back to being Windermere? The main reason the fairways are a shade of green is due to weeds, not fairway grass. They bragged and bragged about the gorgeous greens they put in a couple years ago… where are they now? Looks like Windermere back when they had the bent grass greens. Also, the price to play has gone up higher as the course gets worse and worse. Tom in the pro shop needs an attitude adjustment or maybe just a personality. Great course layout, it just needs uncle Joe to bail it out like the rest of the country.
The course is in dire condition
Staff not friendly from the time we entered the facility. The course was in dire conditions .
Course a bit rough
Greens and tee boxes are in poor shape. Nice course, very playable, but needs care.
Nice layout
The practice green was nice and fast but the greens on the course were inconsistent mostly slow. Course was very dry and not in good condition. Greens were punched and course gave no mention that they were.
