RiverTowne Country Club
About
Rivertowne Country Club in Mount Pleasant has the unique distinction of offering the only Arnold Palmer Signature golf course in the Charleston area. This scenic course takes advantage of all the Lowcountry has to offer, incorporating the landscape's lush pampas grasses, marshland, and ancient, moss-draped oak trees. Water has a prominent presence throughout the golf course with 13 holes that play along the Wando River and Horlbeck Creek. The front nine is less challenging than the back nine but it's by no means easy. The holes are more open but you'll be met with hazards where you would least expect them. The tighter back nine demands accuracy and will thoroughly test your ability to select the proper club. With stunning scenery and challenges that will even seasoned golfers, it's no wonder that Rivertowne C.C. has landed a spot on the Post and Courier's list of "Top 15 Best Places You Can Play in the State."

Fast greens and solid layout
A Couple of forced carries were tough but overall great course for women.
Welcome to Charelston!
I was very impressed with the customer service of the staff as they were very pleasant and engaging. Practice range usage is unlimited and included in the green fee. The course is in very good condition and fairways were soft. The greens had recently been sanded, but the fashion in which they swirled the sand made the greens very manageable versus other courses I have played in similar conditions. Pin placement was forgiving for a player of my level and yet challenging on many holes. I enjoyed the stretch of doglegs and their Par 3's. You will need to place your short on several holes. Overall a great course with beautiful scenery! This was my first golf course visit in Charleston and it was well worth the green fee.
Put This One On Your Bucket List
This course is one of the best that I've ever played on. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. The unlimited "free" balls at the driving range and the awesome course yardage card were both a definite plus. I would recommend this course and clubhouse to anyone and/or everyone.
Gotta Play This Course
Got an excellent rate using Golf Now. The course was a real pleasure. The layout; fair but very challenging. The course condition; very, very well maintained. The staff; pleasent and very helpfull. All this in the mid July heat! It's gotta be outstanding in the spring & fall. Play this one! You won't regret it!
Hard
Hard but a lot of fun. Greens were not as fast as I remembered. Tight fairways. Not to May driver holes
Love this course
Its a great course were they held LPGA tourns its challenging and firm with great service. Expensive but that is to be expected.
Charleston's Finest Golf Course... Arnold Palmer
Excellent golf experience for the Country Club of Country Clubs in Charleston, SC. From the bag drop, free range balls, friendly staff, all the way to the club cleaning after the round... Excellent "Pampering"!
Hidden hazards
Great course for the money. Would like to play it when the greens aren't aerified
best service in area
Since the practice facilities are included in the price of your round, the overall price is a great value for how nice the amenities are. The staff is the friendliest in Mt Pleasant.
Very nice course, friendly staff too!
Greens and fairways were in excellent shape, course is not overly difficult but it does make you think your way through each and every shot. First 4 or 5 holes will leave you thinking "this isn't that tough". From there on it gets more difficult as you move on, especially #9. The only thing I would of like to see is GPS on the carts with distances to those blind hazards. I will definitely come back to play again! Thanks for a nice visit for my group, we definitely enjoyed our time at your facility.
Loved the course
The course was great! The problem I had was I picked a tee time with a cart and was not allowed to ride. Instead of playing the planned 18 I walked 9. Loved the scenery and the gators around the pond. I just hated the fact that I had to walk.
All around excellent course.
Beautiful Course in excellent condition. Requiring a longer review was stupid. Is this now long enough.
Excellent Track on the Wando
Recently vacationed to Charleston and played Rivertowne TWICE while in town for 4 days.
First day was a bit wet, cart path only so went a little slower, didn't play so well. Even wet, the course was in great shape. Overseeded fairways, greens were in great shape.
Went back a couple days later and the course had dried up nicely (90 degree rule) and played the round of my life out there.
Definitely tough from the tips, a lot of hazards in play as the course is on some form of water pretty much the entire time. Course is absolutely gorgeous, even got the better half out there for the second round and she enjoyed just being out there it was so pretty!
Haven't played many other courses in the area, but will always come back here when in town!
shot shaping type of golf course
Absolutely challenging golf course bring your a game!!! you will need it off the tee,
Normally a gem
Unfortunately playing in early March after a horrible Winter left all the fairway grass dormant and missing the fluff allowing better shot control. Greens were good - straight and true. Unfortunately a pre-booked GolfNow time (prepaid) and no course closure left me playing in rain gear in a steady cold wind and drizzle. Aesthetically a pleasing course with much in the way of sand and water. The back 9 plays longer than the front and reflected in my scores. I played this course several years ago in the heat of early fall and it did play much nicer ... though the heat wilted us by the last few holes. Though it was cart path only the cold and wet air actually made the forays across the fairway a welcome respite.
Rivertowne - enjoyable golf
This course is relatively expensive in RAC rate terms, but very good value on golf now. The friendliness and courtesy of the staff is outstanding. the course itself is relatively challenging. T shots in particular are interesting and difficult. Greens can be heavily banked and difficult to land on and stick.
Conditions at this time of year were good in comparison to most course sin the Charleston
area: fairways green although a bit thin, rough
dormant; greens average.
All in all this is a fun course with a welcoming atmosphere. Recommended.
Good Round
With all the recent rain expected the course to be soggy in places which was the case. Outside of soggy conditions course was in excellent shape. Played in 4 hours 10 minutes which was excellent; slow play is the reason I do not play certain courses. Back nine definitely much tougher so score while you can on the front nine.
