If your specialty is landing a ball exactly where you intend to within a reasonable distance, Indigo Creek Golf Club is for you. If you have a grip-it-and-rip-it approach, you could be in trouble on this Murrells Inlet course. Indigo Creek is a challenging track that rewards those who chip away at distance rather than those who try to boom the ball out there.

Wedgefield Plantation Golf Club's Web site declares it is "an old course becoming new again." All the work is starting to show, with smooth greens and fairway turf that's filling in nicely. Azalea Sands Golf Club in North Myrtle Beach is the perfect place to get your golf game in shape. It's extremely reasonable (in difficulty and price), forgiving and comfortable. You might lose some balls in a few of the holes fronted by water, but otherwise, you can generally resurrect your game here.

It's called the River Club, but you'll likely encounter at least one of the 55 sand bunkers while making your way around the Tom Jackson-designed course in Pawleys Island. That's okay. It's still a fun trip, Lisa Allen writes. The variety of the holes makes the River Club a treat.
