CHARLOTTE, NC - You couldn't ask for a better course to play. One of any avid golfers dream is to play at some of the top courses you heear about through word of mouth from other players, ones that are televised or even read about in several of the top golf magazines.
Ballantyne Country Club "was" one of the courses on my list of places to play. Even though I was not welcomed to play there at the country club or even have someone sponsor me while in Charlotte, it was a blessing I did not.
I was directed to the resort course and immediately after I arrived - the resort course is located less than a quarter mile from the country club - I was thankful and very excited to play this course. The resort itself does not open to the public until September 5th, but some of the amenities are open.
I was welcomed with open arms and treated very well by all of the staff members. Everyone I came in contact with were more than willing to go the extra mile to make sure you were taken care of. The head pro (Woody Allen) had even taken time out of his busy schedule to provide me with his expertise of the course as well as information and directions of other exceptional courses to play in the area.
I was so impressed by the beautiful scenery and the layout of the entire course, that I couldn't wait to play it for the second time. Because each hole has its own unique personality and challenge for all levels of play, it would be hard pressed to choose one hole as the clear favortie for me.
If you are ever in the Charlotte area, I highly recommend playing this course...you will not be disappointed and please tell the "Hi" for me.

Golfers will travel more than three miles to traverse the 6,300-yard Harbor Course at the Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms, South Carolina, but the Tom Fazio design is well worth it. Fazio made marsh the biggest bugaboo on the Harbor Course, but the coolest holes are Nos. 16 and 17 in which you have to launch your shot over the Intracoastal Waterway.
