Barracuda Bar and Grill

A scenic setting on the Calabash River serves up fresh Tuna, Grouper, Snapper and shrimp. Choose from a hearty sample of Calabash seafood, served fried, broiled, grilled, blackened or sautéed. Betty’s Waterfront Restaurant

Patrons can arrive at this Holden Beach landmark by land or sea. Betty’s specializes in hand-cut fresh grilled fish and hand-cut charbroiled steaks. Enjoy the full gamut of Calabash style seafood as well as beef and chicken, all in a setting overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway. Crabby-Oddwaters Restaurant

Located upstairs at Bill’s Seafood Market, so you can be sure the seafood is the freshest around. All meals are cooked to order, and the waterfront view is second to none. Soft shell crabs, shed on the property, are the specialty of the house. 310 Sunset Boulevard, Sunset Beach NC. 910 579-6372.

Dockside Seafood House

If you want to get a feel for what a real working fishing village is like, Dockside Seafood House is an excellent way to take in the ambiance of Calabash while enjoying market fresh seafood straight from the docks. Dockside was established back in 1955 by the Price family and has been serving up some of the area’s best seafood since. One of Dockside’s most famous offerings is the create your own seafood platter, but the prime rib is a force to be reckoned with as well. Both children’s and senior menus are available. Sandfiddler Seafood Restaurant

The village of Southport is one of the true hidden gems of the Brunswick Islands, and the Sandfiddler is one of the underrated seafood joints of north Brunswick County. The “Fiddler” serves up lunch and dinner, with an emphasis on oysters, crabs, scallops, lobster and surf and turf. Fiddler’s chef also serves up a mean BBQ chicken, juicy steak, and sandwiches for lunch or dinner. Dine in or carry out. Prime Rib specials on Friday and Saturday nights. Ship’s Chandler

Such is the theme in Brunswick County, Ship’s Chandler offers awesome views of the Cape Fear/Intracoastal Waterway. Enjoy lunch or dinner by the water, Monday – Saturday, and dinner only on Sundays. The Ship specializes in fresh seafood and aged beef – a rarity in these parts. The specialty of the house is the Cape Fear seafood salad. Beer and wine are served and a children’s menu is available. Sunset Grille and Waterfront Tavern

If you are longing for the cozy atmosphere of a coastal tavern, this Sunset Beach eatery and pub is just what you are looking for. Sunset Grille and Waterfront Tavern overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway in this idyllic beach just north of Calabash. Plenty of tavern appetizers, soups, salads, beef, seafood, Italian specialties, slow roasted ribs and BBQ and even pizza. One of the most eclectic menus at the beach. Umberto’s at Coquina Harbor

Along with Roberto’s on Ocean Isle, Umberto’s is one of the best Italian joints in the north Strand. Actually located over the border in Little River, S.C., Umberto’s serves up hand cut chops, steaks, homemade sauces, veal, pasta, chicken and seafood. Children’s menu is also available, as is a full bar. Located just three miles south of Calabash. 843 249 5552.

Whale Oceanfront Restaurant

The pride and joy of Oak Island, Whale is known for its unique combination of fine dining, live weekend entertainment, a lively arcade and a putt-putt course – all right on the ocean. A Tiki bar on site serves up some of the area’s best cocktails. Plenty of great appetizers, fresh off the boat seafood, and a children’s menu. Keep the kids entertained in the arcade and putt-putt course, and you’ll be on your way to an enjoyable evening.
