Golf Destinations
With few exceptions, life in the Brunswick Islands takes place outdoors. And perfect beach weather also translates into tennis, golf, hiking, deep-sea fishing, water-skiing, kayaking and biking. You’ll find a number of ways to fill your days of peace and rest with excitement and motion.

Heritage/Museums

The Brunswick Islands are more than the sum of their dunes. If history and culture pique your interest, the Islands are more than willing to deliver. The ruins of Brunswick Town date back to colonial times, and the Museum of Coastal Carolina and nearby North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport give visitors a more in-depth look at island life.

  • Battleship NORTH CAROLINA, Wilmington, 910-251-5797
  • North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport, Southport, 910-457-0003
  • Orton Plantation Gardens, Winnabow, 910-371-6851
  • Brunswick Town Fort Anderson Historic Site, Winnabow, 910-371-6613
  • Smith Island Museum & Bald Head Island Lighthouse, Bald Head Island, 910-452-7481
  • Museum of Coastal Carolina, Ocean Isle Beach, 910-579-1016

Nature Preserves

There are a number of places to visit that are prime examples of how nature continues to thrive in the Brunswick Islands, from turtle sanctuaries to hands-on produce farms to meticulously maintained ornamental plantation gardens.

  • Green Swamp Preserve, Supply, 910-762-6277
  • Ev-Henwood Nature Preserve, Leland, 910-762-6277

Outdoor Activities

You don’t come to our subtropical climate to spend your days inside. Find out why we’re known as the seafood capital of the world--throw a line off a pier or charter a boat for more serious fishing. Water sports are wildly popular in the islands: water-skiing, swimming, sailing, surfing, canoeing and kayaking. When your sea legs are ready for land, dry off and hit a bike or hiking trail, or pull out your racket or clubs and spend the day on the court or on the green.
